RN has the least violent month of March in the last decade, points out SESED

The month of March was the least violent in the historical series in Rio Grande do Norte, that is, in the last 14 years. During the month, 71 violent deaths were recorded, 25.2% less than in March 2023, when 95 deaths occurred.

According to data consolidated by the Coordination of Statistical Information and Criminal Analysis (COINE) of the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (SESED), in the year-to-year comparison between the months of March – the month of March 2024 was the least violent since 2011.

Positive public safety indices are also evident in the first quarter of 2024. In this period, from January 1st to March 31st, Rio Grande do Norte reduced the number of violent deaths by 23.8% compared to the same period in 2023 According to COINE, in the first three months of 2023, 294 violent deaths were recorded. This year, in the same period, there were 224 incidents.
