SC sends firefighters and boats to help flood victims in RS

The Santa Catarina Military Fire Department traveled to Rio Grande do Sul to assist with incidents due to the severe flooding that hit the state. By order of Governor Jorginho Mello, complete teams, made up of 34 professionals, were sent on the morning of Wednesday, the 1st, in addition to a helicopter, 8 vehicles, 12 boats and a vehicle with specific equipment for rescue in landslides.

The Civil Protection and Defense Secretariat (SDC) was the body designated by the governor to mobilize and integrate government forces in this humanitarian aid.

The CBMSC military gathered at 4 am this Wednesday, in the barracks in the municipality of Araranguá, in the south of Santa Catarina, where they received instructions to travel to the municipality of Lajeado, in Rio Grande do Sul. There, they will form the Command System of Operations (SCO) for the response to the adverse event faced.

Military firefighters from the Task Force (FT) teams from the municipalities of Florianópolis, Blumenau, Criciúma, Itajaí, Tubarão, São José and Balneário Camboriú were involved.

The Santa Catarina Military Police (PMSC) also sent a team that will assist in the rescue and humanitarian support for homeless families. A team from the Aviation Battalion (BAPM) was sent to reinforce the local force. The PMSC is also planning the arrival of a reinforcement team to ensure public order from the moment the waters begin to recede in the region.
