The number of deaths in the accident in Jaboatão dos Guararapes, metropolitan region of Recife, rose to seven. The tragedy occurred during an Easter procession, on Sunday (31/1), when a minibus ran over 26 faithful.

Previously, four deaths had been confirmed, three women, aged 66, 53 and 51, and two men, aged 68 and 52.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene at the time of the collision, but reported himself to the police station and gave a statement on Monday morning (1/4).
