Video shows victim being rescued from bus that suffered an accident on BR-040
At least five people were injured in an accident between a trailer and a tourist bus on BR-040, in Nova Lima, in the Metropolitan Region. Two victims were taken to João XXIII Hospital, in the Belo Horizonte Hospital Area.
A video shows the moment a 44-year-old woman needed to be rescued through the bus window. (look above) A 26-year-old woman was taken to the Jardim Canada Emergency Room, in Nova Lima, and another person to a private hospital in the city.
The bus, which provided service for Buser, had 45 occupants, 43 passengers and two drivers, and traveled between Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte. Already the truck was leaving a mining company in the region.
According to the Fire Department, A car braked suddenly, the trailer managed to stop in time, but the bus couldn’t.
The bus driver said he was unable to stop in time and crashed “violently” against the rear of the truck. With the impact, the truck was thrown off the road.
Passengers reported a “big scare” with the impact of the crash. Some were waiting on the side of the road for new transport to complete the journey to BH.
“Most people were wearing belts and didn’t have any serious injuries, thank God. […] I ended up providing assistance to about four people with injuries, two removed for João XXIII”, Natália, a passenger who was in the vehicle, told TV Globo.
The track was partially closed towards Belo Horizonte and there was a record of up to 11km of slowness.
