A child aged 2 years and 11 months was rescued after getting his body stuck in the external reservoir of a swimming pool in Bombinhas, on the North Coast of Santa Catarina, on Sunday (31).
According to firefighters, the location was difficult to access and with little space for rescuers to maneuver. The child was not injured.
The Bombinhas fire team was called at around 11:30 am in the Mariscal neighborhood. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters determined that there was no imminent risk of drowning.
Initially, rescue attempts were made without the need to damage the structure, but due to the position of the child’s legs, it was necessary to break part of the masonry and remove the skimmer, a device on the edge of the pools used to remove dirt.
The child was then removed and placed in the care of his parents.
