An unsuccessful overtaking ended in a fatal accident on Sunday afternoon (March 31), on BR-251, near Unaí, in the Northwest of Minas Gerais. Six people died at the scene, according to the Fire Department. The corporation reported that the accident involved a Jeep Renegade, which tried to overtake, but lost control of the car, and ended up being hit head-on by a VW Gol.

In addition to the six deaths, three people were injured. The people rescued at the scene were conscious, with abrasions and fractures on their bodies. Two of them were taken by the Samu team and the other by a Fire Department rescue team. It was raining a lot at the time, when the Renegade tried to overtake, lost control and collided head-on with Gol, which was heading towards Brasília.

There were four men in Gol, all of whom died from the impact of the crash. Of the five passengers on the Renegade — who were returning from a long holiday — a man and a woman, who were in the front seats, died. The other three were taken to the Unaí Municipal Hospital. Firefighters did not disclose the degree of kinship between the victims.
