Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina with intense rain this Friday (29)

A new area of low pressure over Rio Grande do Sul should help the formation of heavy clouds this Friday (29), a national holiday. In central and northwestern areas of Rio Grande do Sul, such as Santa Rosa/RS and Santa Maria/RS, rain may begin in the morning and gain intensity in the afternoon.

In Porto Alegre, on the coast, in the mountains and in the south of the state, these showers are expected to occur from the afternoon onwards, strong, isolated and accompanied by gusts of wind at a maximum of 70 km/h.

This scenario of isolated showers should also extend to Santa Catarina, including in the areas of the Santa Catarina mountains and the Chapecó/SC region. In Florianópolis and other locations, this rain can also occur from the afternoon onwards, but nothing very significant.

In Paraná the situation is calmer, there is no expectation of rain in the northwest, such as Campo Mourão/PR and Londrina/PR, for example. And in other areas, the sun appears between few clouds in the morning and there is the possibility of light and passing rain in the afternoon and evening.

On Saturday (30) the sun will be strong for most of the day in the three states. Curitiba and the center-east of Paraná, the coast of Santa Catarina and the Itajaí Valley will have isolated rains, which should not last for long.

On Sunday (31) a cold front arrives in Rio Grande do Sul and there is a forecast of rain showers with lightning, in the afternoon and evening, for the south, Gaucho campaign and west of the state. The coast of Paraná and Santa Catarina should still have a chance of quick rain. In other areas it does not rain.

The presence of a meteorological trough over the south of the country on Monday (01) will cause the instabilities to be reinforced and the rain will return with more intensity to the north of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and much of Paraná, including the southwest and areas close to Foz do Iguaçu/PR.

Even with the arrival of precipitation, temperatures should remain mild at dawn and a little higher in the afternoon, just like a typical autumn scenario. Especially in the western Tri-State, highs will be higher. With information from Climatempo.
