TAP Air Portugal informs that it will celebrate tomorrow, March 29th, 25 years of its operations in Natal. Today, the airline flies daily to the airport in the capital of the State of Rio Grande do Norte with Airbus A321LR aircraft (long-range version of the A321neo).

In 2023, the Portuguese airline recorded growth of more than 25% compared to the previous year in the number of passengers transported to/from Governador Aluízio Alves International Airport, in São Gonçalo do Amarante (RN).

To mark this date, TAP, in partnership with Emprotur and the concessionaire Zurich Airport Brasil, will hold a warm welcome for passengers with the delivery of nuts and the baptism of the aircraft.

For Carlos Antunes, TAP Director for the Americas, The Natal-Lisbon route has been very successful over the last 25 years, supporting the State’s tourist, economic and social development.

“Today, with daily flights, it is the main connection between Rio Grande do Norte and Europe. Celebrating 25 years is a source of pride for all of us. We will continue to work in partnership with the Department of Tourism to show Europeans all the attractions that the State offers”concludes Antunes.

The Secretary of Tourism of Rio Grande do Norte, Solange Portela, celebrated the symbolism of these 25 years of Natal’s connection to Europe. “Portugal, in addition to its cultural and historical ties, represents an important tourist market for RN”stated the holder of the portfolio.

“Celebrating this date with TAP is very important for tourism in Rio Grande do Norte. Our goal is to expand the partnership with TAP and increasingly show Europeans the diversity of destinations in Rio Grande do Norte. It is also worth highlighting that the partnership with the airline is very important for promoting the destination, as flights are important connections not only for the Portuguese market, but they quickly connect us to several other priority markets in Europe”concluded Portela.

Ricardo Gesse, CEO of Zurich Airport Brasil, says: “We took over the airport just over a month ago and we are honored to already celebrate such an important milestone with TAP, the airline that connects Rio Grande do Norte to Europe. We are sure that this partnership will grow even further. Zurich Airport Brasil will always be a partner in promoting the state’s tourism development”.

TAP emphasizes that it invests heavily in serving the Brazilian market. It currently offers more than 80 weekly flights, with departures from 11 capital cities, and has just announced the increase in flights in 2024, reaching a new record – there will be 96 flights per week, an average of 13 per day, reaffirming TAP as the most important international airline connecting Brazil to Europe.

The Company flies directly from São Paulo/Guarulhos, Rio de Janeiro/Galeão, Belém, Belo Horizonte/Confins, Brasília, Fortaleza, Natal, Maceió, Porto Alegre, Recife and Salvador to Lisbon, in addition to connecting Porto to São Paulo/Guarulhos and Rio de Janeiro/Galeão.
