The State government, through the Acre Water and Sewage Service (Saneacre), announced this Wednesday, the 27th, the completion of works to reinforce and expand the dam in the municipality of Bujari, in partnership with the local city hall. The intervention, which lasted almost a month, had the main objective of guaranteeing security of supply for the population of Bujaria after containment broke during the heavy rains that occurred in the last weeks of February.
According to the president of Saneacre, José Bestene, despite the damage caused by the storms, which caused damage in several municipalities in the state, no user of the municipality’s services in Bujari was left without water, thanks to the immediate intervention of Saneacre employees in partnership with the city hall. “It is a priority goal of the Gladson Cameli administration to universalize water and sewage services. Therefore, we work day and night to achieve our goal”, commented Bestene.
Alan Ferraz, director of operations at Saneacre, explained that the works were carried out quickly and efficiently, aiming to restore and strengthen the dam’s structure. “We had to act quickly to recover the dam that broke. Now, we have extended the concrete barrier and reinforced the containment with clay, so that, with the floodgates closed, we can store enough water without worrying about a new rupture,” said Ferraz.
Furthermore, since last year, the municipality has provided the municipality with several improvements to the water supply system. There were investments from capture to treatment, with increased reserve capacity and improvements in water quality. Following the 2022 water crisis, Saneacre installed a new compact Treatment Plant, as part of an ongoing effort to ensure access to quality drinking water for the entire Bujari community.
