Progress in the duplication of GO-213 between Caldas Novas and Morrinhos

The restoration and duplication works on GO-213, connecting Caldas Novas to Morrinhos, are progressing quickly, driven by the end of the rainy season. This project, covering 48 kilometers and financed with a total of R$ 257,688,372.21 from the State Treasury, is currently focused on vegetation suppression and earthworks between the junctions of GO-139 (access to Piracanjuba) and GO-507 (access to Rio Quente).

These activities, led by the Government of Goiás through the Goiana Infrastructure and Transport Agency, together with the support of the Brazilian Army (2nd Railway Battalion), are resulting in the anticipation of the work schedule.

Duplication of GO-213: The restoration of the existing portion of the GO-213 runway in this section, initially scheduled for the second half of the year, will begin in May. The president of Goinfra, Santos Filho, attributes this anticipation to the execution of multiple simultaneous work fronts.

“We started work taking advantage of periods of dry weather during the rains and managed to advance in earthworks, recovery of the pre-existing sub-base, suppression of vegetation and removal of obstacles. Everything was carried out in accordance with environmental standards and with the supervision of specialists from Goinfra and the Army”, highlights the president of Goinfra.

Santos Filho also notes that “the anticipation of the installation of the asphalt plant and the mobilization of labor for the restoration will allow the Army to begin the recovery of the runway in the eight kilometers closest to Caldas Novas in May. The constant progress of the works allows us to advance even further.”

In addition to the duplication and restoration works on GO-213, Goinfra is carrying out regular maintenance along the entire stretch, ensuring better traffic conditions during the works period.

Environment: In plant suppression, a multidisciplinary team made up of biologists and forestry engineers from the Army and Goinfra is taking care of animal welfare and mitigating environmental impacts. Animal species are rescued by experts and returned to nature in release areas close to the Serra de Caldas Novas State Park (PESCaN).

The president of Goinfra emphasizes that respect for environmental conditions and sustainability principles is a priority. “We have appointed qualified and specialized personnel to ensure that the biodiversity of that region is respected and adequately protected. For this, we have the support of teams from the Brazilian Army and biologists from PESCaN, highlighted by the State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainable Development (Semad), who are involved in this important mission”, he concludes.
