The CNH Social program has already reached 7 thousand people, guaranteeing inclusion, citizenship and job creation for those who need it most, across the state. This year, in the program created by the government of Acre, through the State Department of Traffic (Detran), another 5 thousand people will be selected, through another selection process that should be published in the coming months. By the end of 2026, 22 thousand people will have the same opportunity.

A resident of the rural area of Brasileia, truck driver Abraão Nascimento de Lima dreamed of being a truck driver since childhood. However, the price for changing to category D on the National Driving License (CNH) was high, an average of R$2,800, which separated him from realizing his dream, which would also be an opportunity for a better life.

“Ever since I was a boy, I saw my father and other adults in trucks, since in rural areas we need a lot to carry cattle, transport production and support our family. So, I grew up with the dream and the need, but it was very expensive and whenever I went to the driving school to ask, it became more expensive”, says Nascimento.

In 2023, Abraham’s dream became reality. He participated in the selection of the CNH Social Program, which gives low-income people the opportunity to obtain their first license, as well as change or add a category completely free of charge. He was one of five thousand candidates selected.

“I was very happy. It was a quick process, without bureaucracy and in about a month I completed and passed the test, and was able to start working within the law”, she says.

Today, Abraão, who is married and father of little Isaac, 3 years old, supports his family with the freight work he does.

“Truck drivers earn a little more and, now, with a category D driving license, other doors are opening. It’s better to support the family, everything is favorable”, he emphasizes.
