Minas Gerais MP will investigate dentist accused of causing infections to clients Reproduction/Social Media

The Public Ministry of Minas Gerais opened an investigation to investigate allegations against dentist Camilla Groppo. She is already being investigated by the Civil Police after patients developed infections after undergoing liposuction on their jowls, in Belo Horizonte.

At least 20 women have already reported Camila. In all cases, patients reported problems caused by bacteria. In an interview with TV Globo, prosecutor André Sperling said that the suspicion is that the woman failed to clean the equipment correctly or even did not buy the correct utensils for the procedures.

Camilla Groppo has around 12 thousand followers on social media. On the page she presents herself as a specialist in liposuction in the region below the jaw and also bichectomy, a procedure that removes fat from the cheeks.

The Regional Dentistry Council reported that Camilla Groppo’s registration was deactivated because she had not presented her diploma within the deadline, which ended on March 5th of this year. Therefore, she could not practice her profession.

After the repercussion of the case and complaints, the registration was reactivated this week. Camila presented the necessary documents, such as her dentistry diploma. She graduated in February 2022, according to the document.

The Clinic where she worked has also been the target of complaints from the Belo Horizonte Health Surveillance. On March 11, the team found some irregularities, such as inadequate sterilization, as well as an insufficient quantity of these materials to meet the establishment’s demand.

Camila Groppo’s defense claims that the dentist has the necessary training to carry out the procedures and even the double chin lipo course. He also said that the infectious process after the procedure can have several reasons, therefore, it is premature to attribute blame to the professional’s conduct. Finally, she said that she is available to the agencies for better clarification of the facts.
