Mayor Clésio Salvaro (PSD), of Criciúma, became nationally known after recording a video where he said he would cut the electricity to the URB Music Tour event, which took place in the city together with STU National 2024, if he supported drugs, gender and crimes.

Along with him was the City Hall employee, Jorge do plicer, who was responsible for carrying out the work if the mayor gave the order. He ended up better known than the mayor, having his social network invaded by people from all over Brazil.

But what will be the effect of this speech going forward in the city of Criciúma? Will Gilberto with the pliers be called upon at all events from now on if there is any kind of apology?

Will Clésio Salvaro create a department to analyze the songs that will be played at shows and nightclubs throughout the city? Will organizers of major events in Brazil choose Criciúma after what happened with STU?

The mayor maintains his position, as everything happened because a left-wing councilwoman from the municipality ended up making the provocation and Clésio Salvaro fell into the pile.

The fact is that the Gilberto pliers effect can spread throughout Santa Catarina, where many mayors and candidates may want to use this fact as a government platform much more to get along with the so-called conservative voter than to actually defend the family.

We know that politicians in elections take advantage of everything that can bring them votes and at this moment any and all types of “conservatism” will be used to gain office for another four years.

The problem is that we don’t see any politician, whether right-wing or left-wing, who wants to work on more interesting and intelligent agendas, giving preference to inciting bubbles defending agendas against the so-called “enemy”.

For them, the important thing is to polarize and nothing else. As Mário Motta said in the Almoço newspaper, “Life goes on and let’s have a good day”, because this year there is an election and a lot of bizarre things are likely to arise until voting day.
