Operation Argus arrests leader of criminal organization in Minas Gerais

A joint action by the Civil Police of Bahia and Minas Gerais, within the scope of Operation Argus, fulfilled the preventive arrest warrant for a suspect of leading a criminal organization in Bahia. Considered one of the priority targets of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP/BA), it was located in the municipality of São João do Manhuaçu, on Monday night (25).

The ‘Three of Diamonds’ from the Crime Deck was arrested after detailed intelligence work and exchange of information between the PC of Bahia and Minas. When approached by the teams, he presented a falsified identity document and was taken to the 6th Regional Police Station of Manhuaçu.

Investigations showed that the man was the leader of a branch of the criminal group active in the capital of Bahia and in the cities of Itaberaba, Boa Vista do Tupim and Marcionílio Souza. He was indicted for criminal association, homicide and drug trafficking.

The man underwent a criminal examination and remains in custody in Minas Gerais at the disposal of the courts, awaiting return to the prison system. This was the 35th arrest of Operation Argus, launched in 2021 to execute warrants. Police officers from the Intelligence Agency and the Operations Coordination of the Department of Homicide and Personal Protection (DHPP) and teams from the Intelligence Sector of the Strategic Operations Coordination of the Civil Police of Minas Gerais participated in the action.
