The crime took place on Tuesday night (26). Leonardo da Silva Waquim de Souza, 35 years old, was arrested this Wednesday (27) by agents from the 74th DP (Alcântara) and the 41st DP (Tanque). He already had a criminal record for threatening.
According to TV Globo, he was hiding in Cidade de Deus, with support of the Comando Vermelho faction, and the car he was trying to steal was an order from the drug boss.
According to the police, he was arrested red-handed because, since the crime, the searches had not been interrupted.

Residents interviewed by g1 claim that robberies are recurrent on the street, despite the presence of three security guards.
According to neighbors, the car belonged to a police officer who lives on the street and was parked, with no one inside.
The Civil Police General Inspectorate reported that it had opened an investigation to investigate the circumstances surrounding the presence of the 74th DP (Alcântara) vehicle at the scene, and that the police officer responsible for the vehicle will also give a statement to explain why the car was there.
