PRF-ES begins Operation Holy Week this Thursday (28)

In the event of an emergency on federal highways or flagrant irresponsibility in traffic, the advice is to call 191 immediately.

With the arrival of the Good Friday and Easter Sunday holidays, federal highways throughout Brazil expect a significant increase in the flow of vehicles and Espírito Santo should be no different. To ensure the safety of all drivers, the Federal Highway Police (PRF) will begin Operation Holy Week 2024 this Thursday (28), lasting until midnight on Sunday (31).

In the event of an emergency on federal highways or flagrant irresponsibility in traffic, the advice is to immediately call 191. The PRF warns of the days and times when traffic peaks are expected during the period:

• Thursday afternoon and evening (28);
• Friday morning (29);
• Sunday afternoon and evening (31).

The points considered most critical by the police include the urban perimeters of Serra, Cariacica and Linhares, as well as sections in the municipalities of Guarapari, Iconha, Domingos Martins, Venda Nova do Imigrante and São Mateus.

It is important to highlight that last year, during the same operation, there were no deaths recorded during the Holy Week long holiday. However, 18 accidents occurred which resulted in 18 injuries.

To ensure safety on highways, PRF-ES will intensify traffic education activities, which have shown positive results and involve the engagement of road users. In addition, strict measures will be taken against drivers, passengers and pedestrians who disregard traffic legislation.

If you are going to hit the road, pay attention to basic guidelines:

• Before traveling, the driver must check the condition of the car. Maintenance must be up to date, especially in relation to safety items;
• The trip must be planned in advance. There must be planning for supply and food;
• All occupants must wear a seat belt or, in the case of children, an equivalent restraint device;
• Luggage must be carried in its own compartment;
• Drivers must respect the signs by overtaking in permitted places, driving carefully, respecting speed limits and other traffic regulations.
