Covid-19 is experiencing an increase in the number of cases in João Monlevade. According to data provided by City Hall, the municipality had 10 incidents in January, 57 in February and 96 in March, totaling 163 cases this year. According to City Hall, there were three deaths of people proven to be infected, and there are no deaths under investigation.
However, the Executive denies that there is an outbreak of coronavirus in the city. In 2023, according to data provided by the administration, 156 episodes of the disease were recorded in January, 42 in February and 31 in March, totaling 229 records. This means that, in one year, the municipality had a 40.49% decline in occurrences for the period. The current numbers are even lower compared to the height of the disease pandemic, as, in 2021, João Monlevade confirmed 120 episodes in a single day.

Vaccines

The arrival of autumn raises the yellow alert, as episodes of respiratory syndromes increase during this period, such as colds and flu. To prevent the spread of Covid-19, the municipality continues to apply the vaccine against the disease. The flu vaccine also continues until the 31st (see page 4).
For teenagers and adults, the Covid vaccine is available from Monday to Friday in all health units. For children between 5 and 12 years old, the vaccine is available at the Urban Social Center (CSU), at the Central Polyclinic and at the José Nélson Fagundes Basic Health Unit (UBS), also from Monday to Friday.
According to City Hall, the Baby vaccine, for children between six months and two years of age, is offered every day at the Central Polyclinic. In health units, it is available on a staggered basis, and parents can contact their reference UBS to find out the days of administration.
