247 – The national president of the PT, federal deputy Gleisi Hoffmann (PR), stated this Wednesday (24) that the party will not have its own candidacies in the 2024 municipal elections.

“Now we have to defend democracy, President Lula, prepare the ground for 2026 and it has to be with the broad field”, he stated in an interview with SBT News. “The strategy is very different from that of 2020, when we greatly encouraged our own candidacies and did not have a more constituted front.”

According to the leader, the priority will be to form a “broad field” and invest in names from the “democratic and progressive field”, even if outside the Workers’ Party.

“It is very important that the democratic field comes out of the elections strengthened. It doesn’t just have to be the PT that has a candidate and wins. Strengthening this democratic field is fundamental.”
