Nilsen befriended his victims in pubs and bars before luring them to his flat. According to The Sun, the boys went to the place with the promise of a meal, drink or sex. Most of them were murdered by strangulation. Additionally, Nilsen occasionally drowned his victims.

As if they were mannequins. The Scot killed his victims and sat with their bodies before dismembering them, as if they were roommates, according to the BBC.

Nilsen’s crimes were only discovered by chance. A neighbor called a plumber to investigate the sewage blockage at the site, and the remains he tried to eliminate were discovered. According to The Mirror, the police were called and entered the apartment as soon as Nilsen returned from work. The killer was arrested after police found horrific evidence.

In 1983, he was sentenced to life in prison for six murders and two attempted murders. Initially, Nilsen confessed to having killed “15 or 16” young people. However, at trial he pleaded not guilty, arguing that he did not have the mental capacity to form the intention to commit the murders.

‘Fascination with death’

The documentary “Murder in Mind” featured excerpts from an interview Nilsen gave in prison in 1993, reported the North American television channel Sky News. In it, the killer described how he liked to dress the bodies in pants and vests, then undress them, and said he enjoyed the feeling of power when carrying the “flabby” bodies.
