Twitch has announced yet another change to its rules related to sexual content, limiting the “prolonged” display of private parts during live broadcasts. The new guideline comes into effect this Friday (29) and may result in the suspension or banning of channels, as well as preventing access to certain platform functions.
The company itself did not speak directly about this, but the new rules seem aimed at curbing recent trends in publishing suggestive content on Twitch. In one of them, content creators use their own bodies as a green screen to design games and other materials, while in another, they perform lives sitting in transparent chairs with cameras aimed directly at their private parts.
“Our community guidelines are designed to help make Twitch a welcoming place. The content [na plataforma] It’s always evolving, and we want to ensure our rules work as expected and accommodate emerging behaviors. As necessary, we make updates to achieve these behavioral changes and clarify the community about what is allowed. From Friday, March 29th, content focusing on intimate body parts for an extended period of time will not be permitted. We’ve included additional details and definitions in the community guidelines.”
According to Twitch, the cleavage, buttocks and groin are considered intimate parts; they can appear in videos as long as they are covered by clothes. On the other hand, the streaming platform did not say exactly how long is considered “extended” under the terms of use.

Tough quarter for Twitch
The constant updates to rules related to sexual content began in December last year, when the first drastic change to Twitch’s terms of use came. The network even allowed the display of artistic nudes in lives, reversing just two days later, while trying to find a way to increase the freedom of creators, reduce disproportionate punishments and, above all, keep the site safe for minors.

While the original focus of the new rules was artists, who could open lives with anatomy studies or creating materials containing nudity, they quickly opened the doors to a flood of sexually suggestive content. The community was harsh in its criticism, while Twitch reviewed the guidelines and continues to try to adapt the rules to find a balance.
