It’s been a while, but Xbox Cloud Gaming users can finally use a mouse and keyboard in their games — or at least some of them. Microsoft announced that support for peripherals is coming to games offered in the cloud and that Xbox Insider members can now test the new feature.

For now, the resource is still somewhat limited. According to the company, the keyboard and mouse only work in specific browsers, such as Edge and Chrome and, in these cases, it is still necessary to activate the Preview Features option in the settings. Support also comes to the Xbox App on PC.

Furthermore, only some games will accept this type of control at first. Are they:

  • Fortnite (browser only)
  • ARK Survival Evolved
  • Sea of Thieves
  • Grounded
  • Halo Infinite
  • Atomic Heart
  • Sniper Elite 5
  • Deep Rock Galactic
  • High on Life
  • Zombie Army 4 Dead War
  • Gears Tactics
  • Pentiment
  • Doom 64
  • Age of Empires 2

Microsoft also highlights that not all games are working perfectly with the mouse and keyboard and that there are already some known flaws. In case of Atomic Heartfor example, players may encounter some difficulties when switching between the controller and peripherals during streaming.

Those who play in the browser will also encounter other limitations, such as the requirement to play in full screen. According to the company, the peripherals only work in fullscreen mode, activated by the F11 button. Another point is the interface of some games, which maintains the control layout when started — the famous “Press A to start”. In some cases, the adaptation to mouse and keyboard will only happen after the game actually starts, that is, when controlling the character.

However, it is important to remember that the feature is still in the testing phase precisely to correct these problems.

Microsoft has not given an estimate of when these flaws will be fixed or when mouse and keyboard support will be released to all Xbox Cloud Gaming users.
