Men’s handball from Araraquara comes 3rd in the Southeast Cup – Portal Morada

In the midst of the Campeonato Paulista competition, in which they recorded two wins and one defeat in the first three rounds, Fundesport/Araraquara’s under-21 men’s handball team won third place in the Southeast Cup, contested by five teams, in São Bernardo do Campo, between April 29th and May 3rd.

In this competition, the Araraquarense team debuted with a victory over Pindamonhangaba, 26 to 23; also beat Bravos-BH, 33 to 30, in the decision for 3rd and 4th places; drew 21-21 with Rio Claro; and lost to Taubaté, 38 to 25, and Guarulhos, 29 to 25.

According to coach Felipe Fanelli, Periquito, the balance of the campaign in the Southeast Cup is positive, with Araraquara achieving the same position as last year.

“In short, it was an excellent participation, especially with a spectacular game against Guarulhos, decided in the last minutes. Third place overall was greatly celebrated”, he emphasizes.

For the Campeonato Paulista, Araraquara debuted with two wins and one defeat, in three games played away from home. In the first round, he beat Pindamonhangaba, 27 to 23, on April 20th. Afterwards, they beat Osasco, 27 to 26, on April 27th.

In the third round, they lost to Pinheiros, in São Paulo, on May 4, by 35 to 22. “In this game, the team was very worn out from the Southeast Cup dispute”, analyzes Felipe.

In the next round, Fundesport/Araraquara will face Sorocaba, on May 18th, at a time and place yet to be defined.

This season, Paulista U21 is played by 13 teams, with single-round games in the first phase. The eight best placed teams move on to the next stage.
