One of the most popular and sought-after actors in Hollywood, Dwayne Johnson begins to bring his new role to life on the big screen. Last Sunday (5), through his social networks, ‘The Rock’ began his MMA training, as he will have the challenge of playing Mark Kerr, two-time champion of the UFC heavyweight tournament. UFCin the film ‘The Smashing Machine’, the former fighter’s nickname.

The work in question, starring ‘The Rock’, will be produced by the renowned studio ‘A24’ and should portray Kerr’s rise and fall on a personal and professional level. In addition to the Hollywood star, the film will also feature Emily Blunt in the cast. The renowned actress will play the fighter’s wife. Brazilian Caio Machado, UFC athlete, will represent Pete Williams, who knocked out the legendary Mark Coleman. On record, Johnson focused on grappling, as Mark became known for his quality wrestling.

Meet Kerr

In his fighting days, Mark Kerr was successful due to his physical size and for being a high-level wrestler. In MMA, the American won the UFC heavyweight tournament twice and built a record consisting of 15 wins, 11 losses and one ‘no contest’. In grappling, ‘The Smashing Machine’ also won the 1999 and 2000 ADCC.
