The night of the highly anticipated confrontation between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, scheduled for July 20th, at the AT&T Stadium, in Arlington, Texas, in the United States, could count on the presence of a Brazilian UFC idol.

José Aldo, former UFC featherweight champion, is looking for an opponent on the Tyson x Paul event card. In an interview with the website MMA Jukiethe Brazilian explained that he would have a superfight, according to boxing rules, against multi-time world champion Floyd Mayweather, considered one of the best boxers of all time.

However, for some reason still unknown to José Aldo, the fight was not confirmed. Therefore, the Brazilian wants to face a new rival on the event card that will feature Mike Tyson against Jake Paul.

“The fight against Floyd Mayweather was practically certain. Ali Abdelaziz was negotiating and I don’t know what happened, but we couldn’t fight in Saudi Arabia. But there’s a big event on Netflix this year with Jake Paul and Mike Tyson and who knows, I might be there. We have to see. There are many options”, declared Aldo.

Return to UFC

If everything goes well, José Aldo will compete in his third fight under boxing rules. In the noble art, the man from Manaus competed in two fights in 2023: a draw against Jeremy Stephens and a victory over Esteban Espindola.

Aldo, however, has not yet retired from MMA. He will return to the UFC, including next Saturday (4/5), in Rio de Janeiro, when he will face the American Jonathan Martinez.
