Leila talks about Landim, Casares and blasts Textor: “It had to be banned”

Leila Pereira received the official invitation and will appear at 11am on May 22nd at the Senate CPI, created to investigate suspicions of game manipulation in Brazilian football.

Textor gave a statement this week after constant statements with accusations – without presenting evidence – about game manipulation. The owner of SAF do Botafogo stated that “he has proof that Palmeiras has been benefiting for two years” and accused five São Paulo players of having manipulated the defeat suffered by Alviverde in last year’s Brasileirão.

Due to the statements, Palmeiras took Textor to the Common Court and requested the opening of an investigation demanding the presentation of evidence. The president of Verdão, on more than one occasion, has criticized the leader’s stance.

– Textor thinks that Brazil is a mess, that the authorities are not taking action. This man needs to be banned from Brazilian football. How can I speculate without proof? This is irresponsible – he said, during Roda Viva on TV Cultura.

– I think he went crazy because of that. It all started with Palmeiras 4-3, you can be sure, he won’t forget that.

This week, the leader was in Brasília and presented the documents he mentions as evidence, in a closed meeting between members of the CPI. It is based on reports from the French company “Good Game!” and showed videos alleging possible strange movements of suspicious bids. These documents are not public at this time.

The creation of the CPI came after a survey released by SportRadar, a company specializing in match monitoring and partner of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), which highlighted suspicions of fraud in the results of 109 matches held in Brazil in 2023.

The board has up to 180 days to complete the work, with the possibility of an extension for 90 days. At the end of this period, a report is drawn up with the CPI’s conclusions, which can be sent to the Public Ministry or the Attorney General’s Office, so that they can promote the civil and criminal liability of offenders or adopt other legal measures.
