Marinho foresees release of FGTS and anticipation of bonus to those affected in RS

The Minister of Labor and Employment, Luiz Marinho, announced this Tuesday (7) that the federal government will relax the rules for paying FGTS, Unemployment Insurance and Salary Allowance to residents of Rio Grande do Sul. The measure will be published soon and will have an impact of R$2.9 billion.

According to the minister, the release of resources mainly for the approximately 336 municipalities affected by the rains in the state will be published in ordinances and decrees. He also guaranteed that the expense will not be considered for compliance with tax rules in 2024.

“Right now, the priority is to save lives, take care of people and then we will think about reconstruction”, declared the minister.

The Ministry of Labor intends to increase two installments of Unemployment Insurance for people affected by the climate disaster. It will also release emergency FGTS withdrawals, in addition to suspending FGTS collection by employers for 4 months, which will be able to pay in the future.

Marinho highlighted that he is awaiting approval of the provisional measure. which authorizes aid to the state outside the fiscal target, in the National Congress. According to him, the proposal guarantees the volume of resources necessary to support the state, workers and companies. “Of this volume of resources amounts to R$2.9 billion, part of which will return when the FGTS is collected later on,” he said.

Rio Grande do Sul already has more than 400 municipalities affected by heavy rains, in addition to 95 confirmed deaths, 4 of which are under investigation. The latest Civil Defense survey, released late this Tuesday afternoon (7), also showed 372 injured and 131 missing.
