247 – The National Association of Football Referees (Anaf) will ask the CBF to remove Raphael Claus from competitions organized by the entity until the conclusion of the Senate’s CPI on Manipulation of Results and Sports Betting.

According to Anaf, the “measure aims to safeguard the category that remains cornered, in fear and exposed in the media after a succession of accusations, still without evidence that encourages the immediate stoppage of the Brazilian Championship”. The content of the statement was published this Thursday (25) in Lauro Jardim’s column.

The understanding of Anaf, which broke with the CBF in 2022, is opposite to that of the Brazilian Football Referees Association. Abrafut ruled out the possibility of a “whistle strike” in the Brasileirão.

Representatives from Botafogo (RJ) asked for Claus to be removed. Owner of the black and white team, John Textor cited the referee at the CPI and criticized the judge for alleged errors in a match against Flamengo in the Brazilian Championship.

Senators this week approved the invitation to Claus to testify in a closed meeting with members of the collegiate. Judge Daiane Muniz will also be called. She played in 11 of the 38 national championship rounds on Claus’ team. Currently, there is no evidence against the duo following allegations of match-fixing.
