Sports round: Guarapuava has another weekend of victories

GUarapuava, once again, secured several victories in regional sporting events this weekend. With the collaboration of the City Hall, through the Department of Sports and Recreation, Guarapuava teams stood out in Judo, Football, Futsal, Basketball and Rugby competitions.

“It was another weekend with many sporting activities in Guarapuava, such as basketball and the Regional Judo Tournament. We still had our teams working outside the city. We are very happy to bring these events to the Municipality and provide conditions for our athletes to participate and represent us abroad”, highlighted the Secretary of the Ministry, Milton Roseira.

JUDO

Last Sunday (21), the Joaquim Prestes Sports Gymnasium hosted the first Judo Tournament in the Central-South Region of 2024, held by the Central-South Regional Police Station and the Paraná Judo Federation. A total of 580 athletes competed.

The “Future Sport of Judo” from Guarapuava gained prominence in the competition. The project involves 73 students from Escola Municipal Iná Ribas Carli and Escolinhas Primavera and Pavão. The Project won third place in the overall classification.

MEN’S FOOTBALL

On Saturday (20), Batel’s under-20 team faced Irati in the 6th round of the Paranaense Under-20 Championship. The Guarapuava team dominated the game and won the match with a score of five to one for Batel.

The first goal was scored by the newcomer on the left wing, Eduardo Coltro, five minutes into the game, after a pass from midfielder Amaral. At the end of the first half, Gustavo Pidpala increased the lead with a header. In the second half, Dedé scored another three goals, resulting in Batel’s victory. The team secured 10 points, occupying fourth place in the classification zone.

Next Saturday (27), Associação Atlética Batel will face Cambé, at the Waldomiro Gelinski stadium, in an attempt to win a place in the second phase of the championship.

WOMEN’S FUTSAL

After scoring three goals against one from the Águia Mallet team last Saturday (20), in Irati, Anvisa Futsal Guarapuava secured its place in the final of the Women’s Wisa Futsal Cup. The competition had 16 participating cities, and Anvisa will compete in the final phase against the Renova Guamiranga team.

MEN’S FUTSAL

With 12 points, Milionários secured second place in Group B of the Paranaense Futsal Championship, after a match valid for the fifth round of the Bronze Series. The Guarapuava team beat Bituruna four to zero, playing away from home. The goals were scored by Dieguinho, Kako, Pedrinho and Bruninho.

The team will play again next Saturday (27), at Ginásio Municipal Joaquim Prestes.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

This Sunday (21), the AGB Guarapuava team beat Bituruna in the Paranaense Basketball Championship, with a score of 91 x 28 for AGB. The Guarapuava team is in first place in the group with the adult team, and in last place in Group B with the Under 17 team.

RUGBY

In the second round of the Paranaense Championship of the Rugby Federation , which defines the championship.
