Rome Italy) – Three Brazilians will compete this Wednesday in the doubles bracket of the Rome challenger, on clay courts in the Italian capital. In a great phase on the circuit, Fernando Romboli and Marcelo Zormann will play together, while Marcelo Demoliner will partner with Swede Andre Goransson.

Romboli is currently 89th in the rankings at age 35 and is one place below his career best, while 27-year-old Zormann recently entered the top 100 and is ranked 97th. They have already won three challengers together and, recently, competed in an ATP semifinal on clay in Houston.

Romboli and Zormann’s debut will be against the British Julian Cash and the American Robert Galloway, the tournament’s top seeds and ATP champions in Delray Beach, on hard court. If they overcome the opening round, the Brazilians will face the Italians Lorenzo Rottoli and Samuel Vincent Ruggeri in the quarterfinals.

Demoliner and Goransson face Spanish Sergio Martos Gornes and Greek Petros Tsitsipas in the first round. In case of victory, they could face the Germans Constantin Frantzen and Hendrik Jebens, seeds 2, or the Frenchman Jonathan Eysseric and the Italian Andrea Pellegrino.

Orlando Luz has game interrupted in Ostrava

The only Brazilian playing the Ostrava challenger, on clay courts in the Czech Republic, Orlando Luz, from Rio Grande do Sul, had his debut doubles match suspended due to lack of natural light. Luz and American Evan King faced Czech Patrik Rikl and Ukrainian Vitaliy Sachko. The first set was tied 5/5. Whoever wins can face the Portuguese Jaime Faria and Henrique Rocha or the Poles Karol Drzewiecki and Maks Kasnikowski.
