Boca Juniors travels in an unprecedented way this Wednesday for their debut in the Copa Sudamericana. Before facing Nacional Potosí away from home, the current runner-up of Conmebol Libertadores got off by plane in the city of Sucre, Bolivia, and will travel more than 150 km in 4×4 cars to Potosí instead of the traditional bus with the entire squad. The two teams are in Group D of the tournament, same as Fortaleza.
Boca Juniors travels in 4×4 cars for their South American debut
This happens because the route between the Bolivian capital and Potosí has a winding road. On Monday, a travel bus suffered an accident on the road with four fatalities and 36 injuries. A 4×4 car has more control and is therefore safer in this situation.
According to the Argentine press, each of the 4×4 cars will only carry three people, for safety reasons. Travel time will also be shorter compared to a bus trip. With the cars, the Boca squad is expected to arrive in Potosí in three hours — instead of six as it would be by bus.
