Businessman from Governador Valadares who is a fugitive from justice is arrested by the police | Valleys of Minas Gerais

The Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime in Minas Gerais arrested, this Tuesday (30), a 52-year-old businessman on the run from justice.

The man, from Governador Valadares, had been on the run since January 17th of this year. He was arrested in the Milho Verde district, in Serro, in the Central Zone of Minas Gerais. There is an arrest warrant against him with a sentence of 27 years, for the crime of rape of a vulnerable person.

He was taken to the Civil Police station in Serro.

According to the Public Ministry, between July 2011 and January 2012, the man sexually abused his niece, who was between 12 and 13 years old at the time, on several occasions.

According to the prosecution, the defense was based solely on the dismissal of the behavior of the victim and her mother, without even presenting strong elements.

During the process, it was also found that the businessman offered R$100,000 for the victim to change her statement. Furthermore, he sought out the prosecution witness trying to influence his testimony.

The defendant was ordered into preventive detention, but has been on the run for more than two months. He has already had, including habeas corpus, denied by the Superior Court of Justice.

The sentence denied the right to appeal freely, to maintain public order and to guarantee the application of criminal law and the physical and psychological integrity of the victim.
