WTA 500 in Charleston: find out everything about Bia Haddad’s debut

Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia debuts at the WTA 500 in Charleston this Wednesday (3), at around 3pm (Brasília time), as seed 5 of the North American tournament. The match will be broadcast live on Star+ and in real time on Flashscore.

Bia faces home tennis player Caroline Dolehide (47th in the ranking), who beat Kayla Day (84th) in the first round by 2 sets to 1.

If she advances, Bia will face the winner of the duel between Russian Veronika Kudermetova (19th) and American Shelby Rogers (325th) in the round of 16.

The São Paulo native returns to play the WTA 500 in Charleston after six years. In her only appearance in the main draw, in 2018, she fell on her debut.

In 2021, she played the WTA 125 version of the event, and also lost in her debut to North American Emma Navarro.

This will be Bia’s first match of the clay season. After Charleston, the Brazilian travels to São Paulo to compete in the duel between Brazil and Germany for the Billie Jean King Cup (April 12th and 13th).

Afterwards, the 13th in the world will play the WTA 1000 in Madrid and Rome, all on clay, before the Grand Slam at Roland Garros.

In 2024, so far the Brazilian has accumulated eight wins and nine defeats. Her best result was the semifinal of the WTA 500 in Dubai, in February.
