O Santos announced on Tuesday afternoon the return of coach Kleiton Lima, who was multi-champion with the club itself from 2006 to 2010, at the helm of Sereias da Vila. He replaces Bruno Silva, fired this Monday after the team’s poor start at the Brazilian Championship.

The coach will now lead the team in the classic against Corinthians, scheduled for the 12th, at 9:30 pm, in Vila Belmiro, for the fifth round of the Brazilian Women’s Championship.

CAREER:

Kleiton Lima has a strong name within women’s football and was known for founding the first football school aimed at women in 1995. In 1997, he was chosen to start the sport in Santos, with the Baixada Santista club being one of the pioneers in the sport. country.

The coach spent time with youth teams until returning to command of Sereias da Vila, where he won almost everything he played for. His titles include the Copa Mercosul (2006), Paulistão (2007 and 2010), Liga Nacional (2007), Copa do Brasil (2008 and 2009) and Libertadores (2009 and 2010).

This work at Santos qualified him to coach the Brazilian women’s team, where he was successful, placing Brazil at a high level. In 2012, he accepted the challenge of working on the Red Bull Brasil men’s professional team during the Campeonato Paulista Series A2.

He later coached São Caetano, Sport, XV de Piracicaba and Grêmio Barueri. In 2015, he returned to Santos, this time to command the club’s B team.

Recently, Kleiton Lima participated in the Sports Secretariat of the Bolsonaro government, before returning to command the Sereias da Vila in 2022, where he remained until September 2023.

CONTROVERSIAL OUTPUT:

In September 2023, the coach resigned as coach of the Sereias after 19 letters from players were delivered to the Santos board, pointing out the coach’s behavior, including excessive charges, embarrassment and alleged “improper touching”.

Months later, Kleiton Lima filed a lawsuit, which was archived. His defense, contesting the archiving, asked for the opening of a police investigation, focusing on a specific letter that mentions an incident at a fair, claiming to have been a victim of slander, maintaining that the athlete Luciana Ortega had written anonymous letters with allegations of moral harassment and sexual.

The coach accused the player of being the instigator of the allegations, claiming that other players were influenced by her.
