Dana White is one of the most famous and successful managers in the world of combat sports. But success in his work as president of the UFC does not exempt the big man from going through difficult days financially in his personal life. And proof of this is the most recent statement from the American president. An enthusiast of the famous ‘games of chance’, the leader of Ultimate revealed that he had a loss of 3 million dollars (around R$ 15.1 million) in just one night of gambling with friends.
In a recent appearance on the ‘Lex Fridman Podcast’, Dana recalled the episode and classified it as the biggest loss of her life. At the time, the UFC president was at an establishment in Las Vegas (USA) with his friends. After drinking a significant amount of alcohol, White decided to head to the gaming area and test his luck. His condition, however, prevented the top hat from stopping after losing a minimally reasonable amount.
“I would call it the biggest loss for a lot of different reasons. One night I was at the Rio (Las Vegas club), they have big suites there. I went there with some friends and we got one of them, had dinner and started drinking. It started to build up, I was having fun, and I decided to go down to the ‘high limit room,’ and I started gambling. I kept drinking, having a great time, and I ended up going home that night and lost, like, 80 grand. I woke up the next morning like, ‘M *** These motherfuckers took 80 grand from me last night.’ I was at work the next day and the host called me, ‘Hey, Dana, are you coming back? Are you still going to use the suite?’ : ‘No, but don’t get excited about my f***ing 80 thousand, I’ll get it back.’ Silence on the other end of the line. Then he said: ‘Dana, but you lost 3 million’. That was a huge learning lesson for me. I never drank while playing cards again after that night“, recalled the top hat.
