A Mercedes has recently made it clear that Max Verstappen is at the top of the list of drivers who can replace Lewis Hamilton in 2025, after the seven-time world champion in Formula 1 have defined his move to Ferrari in the next championship.

The Dutchman’s departure from his current team gained strength this year, especially the ‘explosion’ of the Horner case, in which Helmut Marko’s future in the team was uncertain, receiving the solidarity of the driver, who threatened to leave if the Red Bull advisor left the team.

Since then, Mercedes has become one of the possible destinations, with team boss Toto Wolff admitting he would like to have him, as well as Marko himself, whom he called his “favorite enemy”.

Now, according to the German website F1 InsiderMercedes would be aiming Pierre Waché, chief engineer at Red Bull, considered Adrian Newey’s right-hand man. The Frenchman’s arrival would help to ‘seduce’ Verstappen, as one of those directly responsible for the RB19, the most dominant car in F1 history.

Between departures and rumors, the days remain busy at Red Bull. A few days ago, the team’s chief engineer, Lee Stevenson left the Austrian team to work at Sauber, which will become Audi. Furthermore, rumors indicate that Lawrence Stroll made an offer to have Newey at Aston Martin, with the same purpose as Mercedes with Waché: to attract Verstappen.
