The team that will play in the Copa Sudamericana, Always Ready suffered a violent attack in the dressing room after the defeat to Independiente Petrolero (1-0), this Sunday (31/3), in Bolivia.
The players of Always Ready they report that a group of fans entered the locker room to rob and attack them.
After the episode, defender Diego Medina, 22 years old, assured that he will not remain at the club.
“Things happened that cannot happen in a professional club. They entered the locker room, stole things, there were attacks, I believe these are things that should not happen. We are waiting for what the club’s management will say. How can it be possible for them to enter if there is security?” he asked.
“The aggression was precisely against me, but I will not play for Always Ready again, it is a personal decision and I hope the club respects it”, he added.
Defender Luis Caicedo, 26, classified the scenes of violence as “unacceptable”.
“It was unacceptable, we don’t agree. We had a meeting and we will not allow these things to happen again. This is football, no one goes on the field to lose. Today it was us, we missed out on the World Cup, but we have an international tournament ahead of us, it’s not possible for people to react like that. We’re all together and we’re not going to train tomorrow,” she said.

Always Ready is in group A of the Copa Sudamericana alongside Defensa y Justicia-ARG, Independiente Medellín-COL and Universidad César Vallejo-PER.
The Bolivian team’s stadium is 4,090 meters above sea level. This is the Municipal Villa Ingenio.
Located in the city of El Alto, close to the capital La Paz, the stadium is the second tallest in the world. It is only second in altitude to Daniel Alcides Carrión, in Peru: 4,378 meters.
Opened in 2017, Municipal Villa Ingenio has the capacity to receive up to 25 thousand fans.
