Flamengo could be punished due to its fans in the Carioca final

-

Cases involving racial, gender and sexual issues in football have been gaining more attention in the international media. There are many episodes judged by sporting bodies, generating punishments for clubs and their respective fans.

Flamengo could be penalized for one of these events. The case in question happened in the first game of the Carioca Championship final. Rubro-Negro faced Nova Iguaçu at Maracanã, where a prejudiced chant was sung in the stands.

At a certain point in the game, many fans mentioned Vasco (eliminated in the state semi-finals) and Payet, the main striker of the São Januário team, in an offensive chorus.

“Call Samu, Call Samu since 97 Vasco takes it in his ass. And Payet???? And Payet gives a shit.”

The video circulates on social media and has been viewed more than 1 million times. The attitude was not well received by internet users, who quickly identified the prejudiced statements and criticized the stance of the fans in the stands. If there is a complaint, Flamengo could be punished with a fine or even play behind closed doors – without fans present.
