Alexandre Kapiche presented television news in the interior of RJ; OTHER SIDE: broadcaster says it does not comment on internal matters and journalist did not respond to attempts to contact the report
Inter TV, a Globo affiliate in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro, dismissed presenter Alexandre Kapiche, who led the station’s local news programs, last Friday (26), following accusations of sexual harassment by female employees.
Kapiche was fired after he was recorded allegedly trying to harass a co-worker, who said he could no longer tolerate his advances. Four employees wrote an open letter denouncing the episodes that occurred in recent months.
F5 had access to the letter and frames from the video, showing Kapiche trying to kiss his colleague without her consent. The images reached the journalism department at Inter TV, which, after internal pressure, decided to dismiss the professional.
In the letter, the employees report that Kapiche hugged colleagues inappropriately and tried to take advantage of them. “Kapiche gave ‘wet kisses’, touched private parts and always tried to hug or touch his co-workers”, says the text. They also accuse Inter TV’s journalism director, Rolf Danziger, of conniving at situations involving Kapiche.
The case has already been brought to the attention of Globo executives responsible for relations with affiliates, and the network is considering intervening to deal with the situation at Inter TV.
Agents from the Specialized Police Station for Women’s Assistance (DEAM) in Cabo Frio visited the headquarters of Inter TV last Monday (29) and opened an investigation to investigate the allegations.
Sought by F5 since last Monday, Alexandre Kapiche has not responded to the report’s attempts to contact him so far. Inter TV confirmed the presenter’s departure, but refused to comment on internal matters, while director Rolf Danziger could not be reached to comment on the accusations.
