Sesc Alagoas offers 3,400 places for free cytology and mammography exams

In order to contribute to the early diagnosis of breast cancer and cervical cancer, on the 9th, 10th, 13th and 14th of May, Sesc Alagoas will offer, through the Sesc Saúde Mulher Project, 3,400 vacancies (1,700 per exam) for free cytology and mammography exams. Appointments will be held from 9am to 11:30am and from 1:30pm to 4:30pm, at the Sesc Saúde Mulher Mobile Unit, located in the parking lot of the Community Protection and Wellbeing Service (SOPROBEM), which is Sesc’s partner in this action.

To make an appointment, you must bring originals and copies (one copy for each exam to be carried out) of your ID, CPF, proof of residence and SUS Card. People who are outside the age ranges recommended by the Ministry of Health for carrying out the exams (50 to 69 years for mammography and 25 to 64 years for cytology) must also submit medical requests.

The exams will be carried out throughout the month of May, at the same place as the appointment, and the deadline for delivering the results is 15 working days. The mammogram report is printed. The images, in turn, can be accessed on the results platform with the patient’s login and password. The results are issued by Hospital do Amor (Barretos Cancer Hospital), which is a reference in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

To celebrate the partnership between Sesc and SOPROBEM, on May 9th, at 10 am, there will be a launch event at the action location, with the presence of the President of the Fecomércio/Sesc/Senac Alagoas System, Adeíldo Sotero, the Director Regional Sesc Alagoas, Carlos Alberto Marques Pessoa Júnior and the President of SOPROBEM, Maria Wilma Cardozo de Lima.

The Sesc Saúde Mulher Project is a strategic response from Sesc to the high incidence of breast and cervical cancer in the country, and represents important support to the National Program for the Control of Breast and Cervical Cancer, of the Ministry of Health. In partnership with SOPROBEM, the project will contribute to promoting the health of women living in the upper part of Maceió.

About the Sesc Saúde Mulher Mobile Unit

It has the capacity to carry out 64 exams per day, 32 mammograms and 32 cytologies. To carry out mammography exams, the mobile unit has a 100% digital mammography with tomosynthesis, a technology that contributes to the detection of precursor lesions and better image quality, enabling a more accurate and reliable diagnosis.
