It took practically two months between removing the thermoplastic and installing the cork. And according to the players and coach Abel Ferreira, the wait was worth it.

– Very important for us to return home, our environment, in the stadium where we really like to play, a very good field. We can say that it was a good improvement on what it already had, so all the athletes are the winners. The opponent who plays with the ball on the ground, touches the ball, I’m sure won’t have any difficulty being here. We are happy, the fans also came and sang – said Weverton.

Other athletes, such as Aníbal Moreno, for example, also reported the improvement on the playing field, which will host the final on April 7th. The first leg will be this Sunday, at Vila Belmiro, against Santos.

Despite the floor being in good condition, returning to the stadium caused some nervousness among the players. According to coach Abel Ferreira, it was necessary to ask for calm during the break after the team’s poor first half.

– We didn’t even train on synthetic at the CT, it was the first time in a long time, it was the first time with 40 thousand, we were all nervous, it’s normal to want to perform well in front of our audience, we wanted to go in and do two threes, but we didn’t gave and it was the opponent’s merit. At halftime I asked for calm, I said we were anxious and after the goal we felt better about our fans. We need them now, if they want to help us, sing, encourage and don’t criticize, during the game help us, and at the end you can even vent – ​​said the coach.

Before last Thursday’s match, the professional squad did a single training session there. During the duel, it was clear at times that some players had difficulty handling the ball and their lack of adaptation to the surface.

Palmeiras will now return to Allianz only on the 7th, for the Paulistão decision. Next Wednesday, at 9:30 pm, the team visits San Lorenzo, in Argentina, for the debut of the Libertadores.
