John Textor, from Botafogo, is suspended for 45 days and fined R$100,000 by the STJD

The plenary of the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) determined this Friday, 26th, that John Textor, owner of SAF do Botafogo, must serve a 45-day suspension and pay a fine of R$100,000 for statements made after the match against Palmeiras, in last year’s Brasileirão. The information is from the newspaper The globe.

The leader was charged under articles 243-F (offense to honor) and 258-B (field invasion). However, the American has already served 28 days of a preventive suspension at the end of last year, with only 17 days remaining to complete his sentence.

In total, there were 30 days of suspension under article 243-F and another 15 days under article 258-B. STJD auditors disagreed on the extent of the punishment. Rapporteur Mauricio Neves Fonseca, who had been the only one to vote in the first session, proposed a total penalty of 105 days (90 + 15) and was supported by auditor Paulo Feuz this time.

Textor has spoken out about supposed arbitration problems since last year and made accusations against Palmeiras in the final stretch of the 2023 Brazilian Championship, after Botafogo was defeated 4-3, at Nilton Santos.
