The Fundesport/Araraquara under-21 men’s handball team will return to the court this Saturday (27th), at 5pm, to face Osasco at their opponent’s home, in a game valid for the second round of the 2024 Campeonato Paulista.
The team led by coach Felipe Fanelli, known as Periquito, debuted with a 27-23 victory over Pindamonhangaba, at the opponent’s home.
Even with a renewed team, the coach is confident for the match. “We know it will be a difficult game, as it is still the beginning of the season, but we are going into the game strong with the aim of coming out with victory”, he commented.
The Paulista U21 has the participation of 13 teams, is played in a single round in the first phase, and only the eight best placed teams will move on to the next phase. The teams competing in the state championship this year are Araraquara, Pindamonhangaba, Sesi/Araraquara, Bauru, Rio Claro, Itatiba, Taubaté, São José dos Campos, Sorocaba, Praia Grande, Osasco, Guarulhos and Pinheiros.
On Monday (29), the team travels to São Bernardo do Campo, where they will debut in the Southeast Cup, which offers a place for the Brazilian Championship until May 3rd. The debut, against Pindamonhangaba, is scheduled for 2pm.
Just a reminder: in 2023, Araraquara’s under-21 men’s handball team won medals in all the competitions they competed in. He was two-time champion in the Regional Games and placed third in the Paulista, in the Youth Open Games, in the Brazilian Southeast Championship and in the Interior Open Games.
