Gold medalists in individual events will receive R$250,000 per medal, while silver medalists will earn R$100,000 each and bronze, R$50,000. The amounts that will be passed on to the champions, runners-up and third placed in the French capital represent a 56.25% increase in the bonuses received by athletes who achieved the same feats at the Tokyo 2020 Games. In Japan, each gold medal earned 160 thousand reais, the silver medal earned 64 thousand reais, and the bronze medal earned 32 thousand reais.

Awards in team sports

In the French edition, the Paralympic title in collective modalities (teams, relays and pairs, in bocce) will be worth a prize of R$ 125 thousand per athlete. Silver, in this case, will be rewarded with R$50,000 and bronze, with R$25,000. Team sports had the same percentage increase as individual athletes compared to the Tokyo Games. Other members of the competitions, guide athletes, runners, pilots and helmsmen, will receive 20% of the highest medal won by their athlete and 10% of the value corresponding to each subsequent podium.

“The increase in prizes is in line with the evolution of Paralympic sport in Brazil. It is recognition of the work done by our athletes and multidisciplinary teams. We managed to reach such numbers thanks to our sponsors, in particular Loterias Caixa. If we had a historic campaign in Tokyo, with 72 podiums and the distribution of R$7 million in bonuses to our medalists, we hope to surpass all these marks in France. And judging by the results in the current cycle, we are fully capable of achieving these objectives”, assessed Mizael Conrado, president of CPB.
