The musician Andrezinho, Anderson Leonardo’s partner in the group Molejo, was moved on the web this Saturday (27) by paying tribute to the artist and long-time friend, who died at the age of 51, this Friday (26), aged 51, after complications from a cancer in the inguinal region. “I will cherish the last show, always with your smile on my face,” he wrote.
This Friday, Andrezinho gave an interview to Globonews outside the hospital where his friend died, in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of Rio, and stated that, despite the sadness, the group will continue. “We all lost. The fans, friends and family. We lost a great reference in music. A great samba singer. A great artist, a showman. We just lost one of the greatest in the country. We are very sad, but happy to try to keep the legacy he left,” he said.
Andrezinho also spoke about Anderson’s irreverent style, which was also translated into the songs. “He was always a very cheerful, happy person who always brought joy to everyone. And that is our intention, to continue in this way, even in sad times, we try to make this moment a very good and brief, on the condition that we understand what Anderson did for music and for the people who like music in Molejo”, he stated.
“We just have to be grateful. Everyone always arrived with a positive message. Everyone bringing back this positive part to bring to the singer. You can be sure that Anderson will be up there watching over us all, transmitting joy and lots of irreverence as it always was”, said Andrezinho.
He also recalled how Anderson continued to think positively throughout his cancer treatment. “He never stopped trying to convey to us the perseverance and struggle he was fighting. At all times, when we arrived, he always tried to convey this positive energy”, he recalled.
“It’s a big absence. Anderson was considered by many to be an encyclopedia of samba. That gap will remain. We have other artists with this condition, but he will definitely leave that gap”, reinforced Andrezinho.
