The star and producer of the Apple TV+ series reveals her plans for the upcoming seasons.

Rebecca Ferguson has a very clear script for Silo. Apple TV+’s fantastic post-apocalyptic thriller already has its second season ready to premiere (no set date yet) and the show’s star and executive producer announced her future plans for the series – including when it will come to an end.

An ambitious plan in which, now that filming on the second season has finished, she will begin working to bring the second part of the adaptation of Hugh Howey’s novels to the streaming platform. An adaptation that became one of the biggest phenomena of 2023, especially for Apple.

Speaking to Collider, Ferguson revealed that the plan is to film seasons 3 and 4 together, with the latter being the finale of Silo:

“I think the series has an ending and I know when it will be. Here is the answer. […] To be honest, I don’t think it’s a secret. Books are books. There are three books and they are divided into four seasons. So unless someone at Apple intervenes, I think it’s pretty safe to say we’re done with season one. Season 2 has been filmed and is about to be released and now we’re trying to get the green light for seasons 3 and 4. And I think maybe we’ll film them together, and that would be the end of it.”

The reason for wanting to film the 20 episodes that would make up the two seasons together is not so much logistics and efficiency (which is also the case), but also so that fans don’t have to wait too long between seasons:

“I think that’s the plan, and I think that because what they’re asking for is very demanding, which is fantastic, the important thing is to give people what they want, and for that we don’t have a lot of margin. But everything changes. It’s a matter of time. It’s about what works. What else will be released. It’s a mathematical equation of how things are released and when they are released.”

Starring Ferguson as Juliette, Silo takes us to a post-apocalyptic future where humanity has taken refuge in immense underground silos and the memory surrounding the catastrophe has already been lost. Eager to learn about reality in the midst of a conspiracy, the first season ended with the protagonist exiling herself and leaving the place.

Graham Yost is the creator of the series, whose first season featured Common, Tim Robbins, Harriet Walter, Avi Nash, Chinaza Uche, Iain Glen, Shane McRae and Caitlin Zoz, among others.
