Briatore reveals surgery to remove heart tumor

-

Flavio Briatore revealed that he underwent delicate heart surgery in Milan, due to a benign tumor, according to the Italian agency AdnKronos.

Briatore, who was discharged yesterday, underwent surgery on March 19 by Francesco Maisano, a cardiac surgeon at San Raffaele hospital. It was a minimally invasive operation, performed by endoscopic thoracotomy, with cardiopulmonary bypass.

Briatore himself made a point of ‘announcing’ the procedure on social media.

“Medical prevention is essential! After a routine checkup, I underwent heart surgery, as I had a benign mass that was removed in a minimally invasive way, using an endoscopic technique.”

“The surgery was a perfect success and I warmly thank Prof. Francesco Maisano, the cardiac surgical intensive care team and the legendary 1st Q Department of San Raffaele.”
