This Tuesday (26), the Nevada Athletic Commission – the body responsible for regulating UFC 300 – appointed veteran Herb Dean to be the central referee of the dispute between Poatan and Hill.

The entity also defined the three side judges who will be in charge of scoring the ‘main event’ of the commemorative edition: Derek Cleary, Sal D’Amato and Ron McCarthy.

Who is Herb Dean?

Currently 53 years old, former fighter Herb Dean has two decades of experience as an MMA referee.

In addition to the UFC, the American also works in other major events around the world, such as the ONE Championship, in Asia, and is seen as one of the best professionals in his role, having won several awards during his career.

UFC 300 co-main event referee and judges defined

In addition to the main fight, the UFC 300 ‘co-main event’ also had the referee and side judges defined this Tuesday, by the Nevada Athletic Commission.

The clash between Chinese Zhang Weili and Yan Xiaonan, in a fight for the strawweight belt (52 kg), will be mediated by Jason Herzog and will have Mike Bell, Ben Cartlidge and Chris Lee responsible for scoring.
