Ponte Preta agreed to sign goalkeeper William Assman, 26 years old, who recently played for Santa Cruz in the Pernambucano Championship. The player is already in Campinas, but it has not yet been made official because he is resolving bureaucratic issues with his former club.
The player initially arrives to be Pedro Rocha’s immediate reserve, who starts the year as owner of the position.
Ponte Preta still has Luan Ribeiro and young Vinicius as goalkeepers in João Brigatti’s squad. The tendency is for one of them to be released on loan during the Brazilian Series B.
William Assmann was hired by Santa Cruz to be André Luiz’s backup, but he took the position and played eight state matches for Coral.
Last season, the goalkeeper played 28 matches for Aimoré, being a starter in all of them – including the Gauchão, Série D and Copa Federacion Gaúcha matches.
William comes from the Youth youth teams. However, for the professional team of the club from Rio Grande do Sul he played only three matches, in 2022.
Ponte debuts in Série B against Coritiba, at home, on a date yet to be confirmed – the competition is scheduled to start on April 19th.
