O Grêmio beat Caxias 3-2on the night of last Tuesday (26), and guaranteed a place in the decision of the Gaucho Championship, a competition in which he is looking for his seventh championship. At the press conference after the victory, coach Renato Gaúcho was asked about the team’s fluctuations during the season.
In response, the coach cited the Flamengo to explain Grêmio’s growth and that only the team led by Tite has shown good football in Brazil in the first half of 2024.
“Let me tell you something. I told you a month ago that our team was still far from achieving what was expected. It’s improved, but it’s still far away. We started building our group, bringing different players, basically we played some games with an alternative team, with chemistry”.
“Today we have a very good group. It is closed? No. But we brought in quality names, which has helped us a lot.”
“We always work to seek the best. Today, in Brazil, which team stands out playing good football? It’s Flamengo. The rest are very similar. You can’t compare yourself with Flamengo, they have two teams”, said Renato, who also took a “poke” at his rival International, which was eliminated by Youth in the Gauchão semifinal.
“Congratulations to Flamengo, but football…some clubs were praised, but are not in the final. Those who have to be praised at the moment are those who are in the final”, said Renato at the end of the press conference.
