In the women’s section of the Bells Beach stage of the World Surfing Tour, in Australia, Brazilian Tatiana Weston-Webb eliminated her compatriot Luana Silva and qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition. This morning, six Brazilians will compete in the first round of the knockout round in masculine.

In the decisive duel, Tati reached a total of 11.97, while Luana stopped at 11.67 and almost managed to turn things around in the final seconds of the heat. Previously, also in the second round of the tournament, Tatiana had to go through the repechage round to advance to the knockout stage. She finished with waves of 6.00 and 5.23 and continued in second place in the group, behind the American Caitlin Simmers (12.04). Now, in the quarterfinal stage, the Brazilian will face Caroline Marks, from the United States, current champion of the World Tour.

Among men, the first Brazilian to enter the water in the round of 32 will be Samuel Pupo. He will face Italian Leonardo Fioravanti in the third heat at Bells Beach. Later, three-time world champion Gabriel Medina faces American newcomer Cole Houshmand. Miguel Pupo is in the 10th seed and faces Crosby Colapinto, also from the United States. Yago Dora, on the other hand, will try to qualify against Hawaiian Ian Gentil. Finally, Ítalo Ferreira takes on Indonesian Rio Waida, while Caio Ibelli ends the first round of the knockout round against South African Jordy Smith.
